“I’m a very special cat! I say that every day – I love myself so very much and always get my way.” Cat lovers young and old know these words ring true when reading this book. They all agree, “Yes, that’s my cat!” If you love cats you’ll laugh and sigh with each page of text and illustrations of Purrsnikitty.
Purrsnikitty is a fun story from the moment the cat is chosen from the shelter to the end of the book. Along the way, a new pet enters the family, which means joys and challenges for our star, who was actually modeled after a real cat chosen from many entrants in a cat contest created by Brodsky. She encouraged entrants to make a donation to an animal shelter for each entry they made, which resulted in $700 in donations.
An excellent resource for teachers, library ‘story hours,’ and parents discussion questions to further the reading/learning experience. Themes in Purrsnikitty include: sibling rivalry, responsible pet ownership, accepting change.
